As part of our ongoing Art Workshop Series, The Art Route Gallery presented a captivating Portrait Sketching workshop in Charcoal and Graphite with the award-winning artist and founder of Misha Arts, Minisha Bhardwaj. Known for her distinctive style and innovative approach, Minisha is a celebrated artist who has gained both national and international recognition. She has been honored as the “Art Ambassador of India” and holds a world record for the largest collaborative watercolor painting.
This two-day workshop provided participants with the opportunity to master the nuanced techniques of portrait sketching, focusing on creating compelling, lifelike portraits using charcoal and graphite. Under the guidance of Minisha Bhardwaj, participants explored both traditional and contemporary elements of portrait art, learning how to effectively use light, shadow, and texture to bring their portraits to life.
Minisha Bhardwaj, whose works have been featured in museums across Abu Dhabi, Jaipur, Kashmir, and Italy, shared her extensive knowledge and passion for art with participants. Her journey, which began in 2014, has been marked by excellence in various mediums such as charcoal, watercolor, and knife painting. She has exhibited her works in over 200 exhibitions globally and has been featured by major media platforms including Hindustan Times, Times of India, Zee TV, and Sony TV.
The workshop was designed to be beginner-friendly, allowing art enthusiasts of all levels to delve into the art of portrait sketching. Participants were guided through the process of understanding proportions, facial features, and the emotional depth needed to create realistic portraits. The sessions were interactive and hands-on, with individual attention provided to each participant, fostering a rich learning environment.
Feedback from the participants highlighted the unique experience of learning from a master artist like Minisha Bhardwaj, whose mentorship and insights have inspired many aspiring artists to explore their potential and express their creativity through portrait art.
