Mohammad Naseem Khan is a vibrant young Delhi-based artist with a passion for subliminal landscapes. The artist perceives these visions of serenity through his mind’s eye, in reverence of recollections amassed over time, through the innumerable journeys into nature’s bounty. The elements – air, water, fire – play a crucial role in the artist’s visual palette. He strives to embody their ageless strength through ever texture and turn of brush-stRokes. As a young school boy growing up in the crowded suburbs of Old-Delhi, he fled to the hills of Shimla for some respite and this journey altered the focus of his life which since then continues to reach out to nature again and again for solace and inspiration. He has travelled widely all across the hilly terrains of North India where the hills and their foggy silence speaks to him in volumes which he translates into hues and textures on his canvas. Later the artist also traversed down south to places like Ernakulam and Kanyakumari where the surging water-bodies left him spellbound with their staggering beauty of speed and power. His canvases are a quintessence embodiment of textures and flat color-planes. The artist employs myriad elements like leaves, cloth, paper, rollers, brushes, knives and innumerable other items to build up layers onto the canvas surface. What apparently seems to have been achieved in seconds, is the fruition of years of toiling and mastery, a practice that the young artist continues diligently. Always eager to learn and incorporate new methods and ideas in his executions, he shows promise towards a bright and engaging future. He is indeed one of India’s aspiring new talent who deserves to be seen and showcased.
