Kavita Nayar

Born in 1957, Nayar obtained her bachelor’s degree from Santiniketan (West Bengal, India) which was followed by a master’s degree from the College of Art, New Delhi. She is the recipient of many awards and scholarships like the French Govt scholarship, to work in Cite international Des Arts. She was inducted by the Charles Wallace India Trust Fellowship as a visiting artist at Oxford University, England. Creative Fund fellowship to work in Luxembourg. She received Senior and Junior fellowship from Ministry of HRD, India and Research Grant from Lalit Kala Academy. She has traveled and participated in workshops and given presentations in countries like France, England, Sweden, Hungary, Luxembourg, Mauritius, USA, China, Korea, Greece, Bhutan and Bangladesh. She has held solo exhibitions in Bose Pacia Modern, New York; Oxford University, England; Otterbein University in Ohio; Mauritius, Delhi, Kolkata and Mumbai. Her works are in the collection of the Prime Minister House in India, Ministry of Civil Aviation in New Delhi; National Gallery of Modern Art, New Delhi; National Bibliotheque, Paris; Otterbein University in Ohio, Korea and in many important academies and corporate houses in India and abroad. At present along with freelancing she is the Trustee of an NGO, Kala Sakshi Memorial Trust (www.kalasakshi.org) which is involved in scholarship and mentoring programs giving platform to young & deserving students of art.
